Yesterday I took Rebecca on a shopping trip to Fashion Show Mall. We met in front of Nordstrom to assess her goals and needs. Rebecca is in her thirties and has five children, so one of her requirements was to look less “Mom-like” and more “adult” and “pulled together” (her words, not mine!). She wanted clothes which would look appropriately chic in an after-business -hours environment, as well on date nights with her husband and at school functions. We decided to incorporate a bit of fall’s trendiness with the classic-but-fun looks Rebecca favors and no store beats Nordstrom for that!
Rebecca is more of a pants person than a skirt/dress one, so we wanted to concentrate on separates. The first pieces I saw were this teal and black peplum top and some great black Not-Your-Daughter’s Jeans (NYDJ) pants. The ensemble looks fab alone with heels or pulled together with a black vegan-leather jacket. It would also be cool with these Steve Madden booties, which were $129 in that Mecca-for-Shoe-Addicts, Nordstrom’s shoe department.
Next I pulled these timeless black pinstriped, wide-legged slacks and a slouchy pullover in a contrasting stripe. Isn’t that style savvy, especially with the slacks puddling over Rebecca’s shoes in a very “fall-of-2019” way! When this fad fades, Rebecca can shorten the slacks to break just at the top of her pumps, which is a more classic style.
The sweater will, of course, look great with the first pair of black pants, or jeans, or a black midi-length skirt. The two pieces we selected give Rebecca several options, including going monochrome with a black top and the black jacket, or a brightly colored tank or T to set off the black. And wouldn’t those Steve Madden booties in snakeskin be awesome with either option????
Last I decided to pull one dress which can be worn with or without the jacket and with heels or flats. This color is SO perfect on Rebecca! (Then again, Rebecca looks great in most colors, due to her golden skin and gorgeous dark eyes.) The dress is very flattering to her tiny waist and long legs as well. Stylish, huh?
So this is the essence of a shopping trip. Not only did we have a great time; but, we were able to accomplish all this in less than hour! Rebecca not only saved time; she also saved money with Style Savvy!
