Sunnies!!!

As a personal stylist and personal shopper, I often get asked about accessories like jewelry, handbags and my fave, sunglasses. I am an unabashed sunnies fanatic! Sunglasses are not just to shield your eyes from harmful rays; they can be an integral part of an outfit and finish off any look. And they are fun!

Have you ever wondered what shape of sunglasses fit your face the best? With so many shapes and colors available, it may be easy to just buy them because they look great, but you should know what is the most flattering. Whether your face is round, oval, heart shaped, diamond shaped or square, Style Savvy can help you find the perfect shape of sunglass frame. Unsure of what shape your face is? Call us for a consult!

A round face will look best with a rectangular or square frame. The strong lines of the angular shape will add length to your face. Stay away from round, and look for some color. One of the most classic shapes? The Wayfarer! RayBan has them in many different colors of frame and lens; go wild!

An oval face can wear many shapes, colors and designs. The only caveat.....stay away from narrow frames which can detract from the beauty of your face. Otherwise, the sky’s the limit! Try cat eyes, rounds or aviators and have fun with color!

If you have a heart shaped face ( think Reese Witherspoon) your sunglasses are best if they are round or oval and stick with thin frames in light colors. They add dimension without detracting from your features. Try a fresh look-an oversized round in rose gold, like these at Jimmy Choo in the Forum Shoppes.

Those with diamond shaped faces will look best with either a rimless pair or an oval or cats eye. A dark frame or one that is heavier on top will balance your face, as will a browline pair. On a personal shopping trip, I encourage starting with RayBans due to the wide selection.

If you have a square face, you should look at dark frames and stick with round shapes, as they accentuate your cheekbones to give your face a focal point. Browline styles also flatter a square face. I’ve seen gorgeous ones at Chanel but if you don’t want to spend that much, take a gander at Madewell.com. They have very modern styles at reasonable prices.

It is not because I’m a personal stylist that I jones for sunnies. A new pair can give you a lift almost as a new haircut does! They are a great way to master a trend without spending a lot of money. And won’t they look great hanging out of that Louis Vuitton purse you’ve been eyeing? What Style Savvy!!! And remember, “trend” is today but “style” is forever!
