Boo! You bodacious beauties!!!

"B" is the subject of this week's blog, in that it stands for BRA...... The "foundation" of true style! I thought I'd start at the "a"s, "b"s or "c"s or whatever your size might be and get you on the road to a truly stylish underpinning.

Did you know that 70% of women wear the wrong sized bra? This comes from not knowing the basics of brassieres, or the overs of underwear. Most of us know that the number, i.e. 32, 34, 40 in a bra size is the measurement around your back but do you know where it's taken or how? Similarly, the letter in your bra size is the size or the cup, but do you know how to figure out what it is? Here's a beginner's guide to bras!

It's tough to measure yourself for a bra because the measurements have to be taken with your arms relaxed at your sides. This is where boyfriends, girlfriends, or husbands come in handy! Hold the tape measure around the bottom of your breasts, right at their base over the rib, parallel to the floor. That number is your back size, rounded up, so if you measure a 35, count yourself a 36. Next measure around the boobs, parallel to the floor right across the nipples. Subtract your back size, the smaller number, from the larger number. A 1 inch difference is an A cup, 2 inches is a B, 3 inches is a C, 4 inches is a D, 5 inches is a DD, etc.

Bras are fitted to be worn on the second of three hooks, allowing a little leeway in either direction. Strap adjustments also provide a little leeway. Even so, each bra should be tried on because a 38C in one bra could be a 36D in another. Each bra type, demi, full coverage, racer back, convertible, strapless etc., will fit differently. Don't get "strapped" into buying based on size! The right bra fits snugly, no uni-boob, which means your bra strap is too tight, no double boob which means your cups are too small, and no excessive back fat, which should be invisible under clothes.

So there you have a basic bra book. Check us out next week for the classy chick's care of her caboose, also known as the 1,2,3s of 5, 6, 7s........your perfect panty. And always remember, "trend" is today, "style"is forever!
